Social Research Program

Join Volunteer Aid India’s Social Research Program to get practical knowledge and skills on Social Research. This program includes training session on Social Research, field surveys and report writing. We highly encourages university students to join this program.


At the beginning of Social Research Program, we organize three day long training in Kathmandu office to provide basic knowledge on aspects of social research, Nepalese culture, information related to research topics and develop research questionnaire. First day training will cover some basic aspects of Research, some tools and information about India, second day training includes the information about the research topic and the third day includes questionnaire development work. The training session also includes some tools such as ORID Method, Mind Mapping and some icebreakers & fun activities.

Program Location: Villages of Kaski ( Around Pokhara), Syanja, Dhading, Kathmandu, Tanahu & Nawalparasi District
Who can apply? University Students from Bachelors and Masters level
Project Duration Minimum 2 Weeks to 5 Weeks

After training, we organize field survey program . The field survey is an exciting opportunity to learn about Nepalese society and culture. Participants will conduct field work with a semi structured questionnaire alongside a Nepali Research Assistant. Participants will collect data by using various methods such as observation, questionnaire, focus group discussion, interview etc. For the short term research program, we choose one village which includes nine clusters of which contains a total population of 3,500. Depending on research topic, participants will fill up about 100 questionnaires. Research Assistant will facilitate the participants for field survey.

Once participants have completed the field survey. Volunteer Aid India facilitate participants to complete research report. Volunteer Aid India also provide guidance or instruction on how to write research report to participants. Participants also can hand over report writing task to the organization. Organization will complete with in 3 months.

This program is available for groups ranging from 3 to 7 members and individual through the year. Students studying Bachelor or Master level are more welcome to join this program. If your major subject is International Relations, Sociology, Anthropology, Culture, History, Political Science, Development Studies, Social Work or any other Social Science subject, this program can be a huge benefit for both your studies and future career.

Program requirement Volunteers for program must:

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Have no major health problems
  • Be eligible to obtain a tourist visa to India
  • Flexible, Committed and adjustable
